The rugged mountains of Montenegro’s coast. The blue waters that stretch out as far as the eye can see… Those are things that anyone with a #NaturallyCurious soul must experience. I had my chance earlier this year—I know, I’m lucky! But to give back, I’m here to share with you what I discovered in this marvelous country and what you can too.
For a nature lover, Montenegro is a paradise. Not only is this country’s wildlife spectacular, it’s also off the beaten path, which means visiting it means seeing a pristine land. A good place to start? Any of Montenegro’s 5 national parks, each of which is filled with hiking trails where you can get up close and personal with places like the Dinaric Alps, Lovćen, Durmitor, Biogradska gora, Lake Skadar, and Prokletije. Each of these places is so astonishing it deserves an article all to itself! If I had to pick just one, I think it would have to be the Dinaric Alps. These ancient mountains spoke to me in a powerful way. It was as if climbing them gave me access to a primordial being that was talking to me as I trekked.
