As we head into the colder months, there is much warmth here at BTHQ! 
Rather than a period of hibernation for us, we are in a state of incubation, getting ready to hatch some seriously exciting ideas and plans as we move forward into the next era of the festival.

In nine months nearly 50,000 of you will enter Boomtown’s gates, most of you waiting three years to get to that point and we know one thing for certain; the energy on those dance floors is going to be off the scale!!

THE FUTURE OF THE FESTIVAL… 

Firstly, it’s important for us to reiterate that your love, support and belief in us these past two years has given us the ultimate opportunity to launch back in a way we never imagined we would be able to. Now that the team are back in and planning all the new wonders, it’s incredibly clear how valuable this has been for the future of the festival and we cannot thank you enough. 

Boomtown is one of the most creative experiences on the planet; a magical living city built from the love and passion of thousands of people. 

Over the last few months, so many of you have got stuck into the conversations we’ve been having recently via social posts and surveys and it has been amazing hearing from you. Going forwards we want to continue to have a two-way dialogue with you all; through podcasts, focus groups and feedback forms to help us collectively make decisions on how Boomtown will evolve. The way any true community should work. All voices are heard and welcomed and together we will decide the future and what is right for us all. 

Your input has helped us evolve the layout, design and structure we’ve put in place for Chapter One and it’s like nothing we have ever done before. We are building some of the most spectacular stage sets we have ever created, diving into detail we never imagined before, building huge new circus shows and planning scenery down to the texture on every door handle…

Thanks to you, our crew, and some teachings from experienced people we deeply respect, we are co-creating a space in which we can all connect and celebrate but will do so with a deep respect for ourselves, each other and the planet at the same time.

WHO WE ARE

 

A New Space and a New Concept is Coming to Bristol

Now, you might be thinking, there’s been no Boomtown for two years, so what have a lot of the team been up to, and what’s happening to our Bristol venue? Well, we are finally in a position when we can reveal the first details of a huge, new, Bristol-based project that we are just starting to bring to life. 

It’s a vision we actually dreamt up around six years ago when we managed to acquire a derelict old paint factory in Bristol! It’s a unique project that we started to feel we would never have the time to turn into a reality… and then COVID landed…

In short, we are building a permanent, all year round version of Boomtown’s creative concept.  It’s completely bonkers. The best way we have found to explain it, is to imagine something between an art gallery, a theme park, a film set and Boomtown. We are calling it an ‘Amazement Park’ and we’ll be revealing the actual name when the time is right. The project plays into and expands on everything we have spent our lives building up, giving support to Boomtown and massively complementing the UK’s underground arts and creative festival scene.

This project is inspired by the wisdom of teachers around the world and our own phenomenal network of creative minds. It will create ongoing work for around 300 independent artists who, by focusing on and through three core principles of creativity, discovery and play, will create new exciting, positive and alternative ways of thinking about things… Right now around 30 artists are already designing and constructing the park’s first phase. 

Work is very much underway but we are keeping the project relatively underground whilst we build up an initial community, the core foundations and figure out ways to properly finance the project.
